HOW FAR CAN I RIDE?
We supply the bike with a fully charged battery and the distance you can ride on that charge is dependent on many factors including the level of assistance you choose, the gradient of the trail, the amount you input yourself, your weight, your kit & clothing weight, tyre pressure, the trail surface you are riding on, pedal cadence, the list goes on

All that said, you should get between 50-80 km's from a single charge.
HOW FAST CAN I GO?
In the UK, e-bikes are restricted to 250 watts motor power or 15.5 mph (25 kph). You can still travel faster but at greater speeds the motor will stop providing assistance.
DO I NEED TO PEDAL?
The bikes do not have a throttle, instead they provide assistance to enhance any pedalling you do.

The amount of assistance can be varied by a simple push button control on the handlebar which allows the rider to cycle through the available power assistance modes.
If you are not pedalling then you'll not be receiving any assistance.
DO THE E-BIKES HAVE
GEARS?
Yes. All our e-bikes have gears like any normal mountain bike and these are used together with the power assistance levels to manage the pedal input required to achieve the desired propulsion. The assistance level is controlled by a simple “+/-” button on the handlebars that will cycle through the available modes/levels of assistance.
It's best to use your gears before hitting the power.
WHAT IF I RUN OUT OF CHARGE?
We give you a full charge, however, the time & distance a charge will last is dependent on many factors (see ‘How far can I ride?’).

Once the charge is exhausted the bike will continue to function as a regular mountain bike would, although without providing any pedal assistance, so it is possible to get home, although it is likely that riding will feel a lot more challenging.
WHAT IS WALK ASSIST?
Some of our e-bikes feature a walk assist, this is a feature designed to help move the bike up a steep incline when you are dismounted. With walk-assist engaged the bike will propel itself forward without any pedalling at a slow walking pace allowing the bike to be more easily walked up steep slopes.
ARE THE E-BIKES HEAVY?
There is additional weight from the motor and battery units, the e-bikes also need to be strengthened to cope with the additional loads so they are heavier than a non assisted bike. despite that, because of the assistance once you are riding you don’t notice the weight. the ebikes are well balanced so they handle much the same as a standard bike. It can take a little time to adjust but most people acclimatise quickly.
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?
You need to be 18+ to rent our e-bikes and 14+ to ride them.
So a child aged 14+ can use one of our e-bikes provided an adult is responsible for the hire.
WILL I GET A DEMO?
Yes. Our staff will run through the essentials of using the e-bike. We will go through the power modes, visual display and walk assist (if applicable) and tell you what you can expect from your ride.
We will happily stick around while you test out the e-bike and answer any question you may have.

WHAT PAPERWORK DO I NEED?
To protect our e-Bikes, we need to positively identify all renters with photo ID. Your ID must be shown when your e-bikes are delivered/collected.
Please remember to have your photo ID to hand prior to your hire. Only the lead hirer needs to show ID.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?
Cancellations will be subject to the following charges.

Up to 1 week prior to the hire date – 100% refund.

Up to 3 days prior to the hire date – 50% refund.

1 day prior to the hire date – 25% refund.

Day of hire cancellations will be charged at the full hire rate. We will try to offer an alternative date, however this may not always be possible.
DO I HAVE TO WEAR A HELMET?
You MUST wear a helmet at all times while riding one of our e-bikes.
We provide helmets free of charge. If you prefer to wear your own helmet, please do so.

DO I NEED INSURANCE?
Riders are responsible for their own safety whilst using our e-bikes. We ask that you make sure you're adequately insured.

If you have an insurance policy for sports, please check that e-biking is included.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY
E-BIKE IS DAMAGED?
Whilst in your care, our e-bikes and equipment are your responsibility, and you may be held responsible for any damage caused to the bike or equipment, up to the retail value of the damage caused. Our e-bikes are in excellent condition, and we really want them to stay that way.
If you are riding on the road and riding sensibly the chances of damage are low. Of course, we won't hold you responsible for any normal wear and tear.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY
E-BIKE IS STOLEN?
Loss or theft of an e-bike caused by not having the e-bike/s secured to an immovable object through the frame of the bike, will make you liable for the full retail value of the e-bike/s lost/stolen.
We will report thefts to the police and ask you to assist us, in our, and police enquiries.
CAN I DRINK RIDE ON AN E-BIKE?
There are some fabulous pubs in North Northumberland. If you choose to visit them please leave the e-bike at your accommodation.
Drink riding on our e-bikes is strictly forbidden.
Our e-bikes must also not be used if you are under the influence of any drugs, unless prescribed by your doctor and known not to impair your riding ability.
CAN I BOOK ON THE DAY?
You can. On the day bookings can not be made online, however, if you wish to make a same day booking we will be happy to accommodate you where possible.
